  • Friday, Jan. 27, 8pm: Ed Koenig & Phil Elsworthy plus Bob MacLean
Ed and Phil have both been involved in folk music for about 40 years, and have been regular session attendees since traditional music sessions started locally. They have both taught at the Riverside Celtic College of Music, and have played with the Grand River Ceili Band since the mists of time began to lift.

  • Friday, Feb. 24, 8pm: The Saturday Saints
Danny Simmons (banjo, vocals) and Kristin Cavoukian (guitar, vocals) met deep in the heart of Parkdale, in Toronto’s west end, and have spent the last few years playing music together, along with some of the incredibly talented musicians they both know. On stage or around a campfire, The Saturday Saints revisit traditional, old time, bluegrass, and other acoustic songs, with a focus on strong duet singing and simple, thoughtful arrangements. They recently recorded their first album, Hand-Me-Downs, a collection of traditional songs that captures the energy of their live performance.

  • Saturday, March 3, 8pm: Daniel Payne. $15
Daniel Payne grew up in the small fishing community of Cow Head, on the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. Since his teens he has performed as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist on fiddle, mandolin, accordion, flute, whistle, bodhran, and guitar. He has worked extensively in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as touring Canada, Greenland, Australia, Japan, Europe and the US. A wearer of many hats, Daniel has also worked as a composer, musical director, producer, and actor in both theatre and film. He is often recognized for his leading role in the television mini-series Random Passage, a portrayal of settlers' life in early Newfoundland. Daniel is a recipient of the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council's Emerging Artist Award and received a Traditional Singer of the Year nomination from the Canadian Folk Music Awards, as well as nominations in the Male Artist of the Year and Folk/Roots Artist of the Year categories from MusicNL. His production company has released four titles, an album of accordion music entitled The Four Stops, two instructional DVDs entitled Learning the Newfoundland Button Accordion Vol, and his first solo album, entitled Chain. Visit him at danielpayne.ca to see what he's up to next!

with Tethera, County Vaudeville, Geoff Lewis, and Robin Jones.
  • Friday, May 25: Allison Lupton, Geoff Somers, and Ian Bell. $15
Vinyl Café Host, Stuart McLean has described Allison as having "... a beautiful, clear singing voice, and the ability to tell a story with her flute." Allison and band mates Ian Bell and Geoff Somers captivate listeners with their beautiful renditions of traditional and original songs and tunes. The trio features exquisite, three-part vocal harmonies and “…..sophisticated arrangements that surround Allison’s voice and flute like a warm blanket on a cold winter night.” Sing Out! magazine.
