As a craft vendor, you are invited to apply to set up an open-air booth and sell hand-crafted art works and fair trade items at the Mill Race Folk Festival.
A limited number of spaces are available - last year about 15 craft vendors participated in the event.
The festival is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors during three days of activities, from Friday, July 30 through Sunday, August 1.
CONDITIONS
1. What can be sold: only hand-crafted good and services, such as musical instruments, original art works and henna, as well as fair trade items are to be sold by craft vendors.
2. Registration fee:
- Your $60 registration fee entitles you to maintain your sales booth on Friday evening through Sunday evening. The fee is to be submitted with your registration form and becomes nonrefundable when your registration is approved.
- You will receive confirmation of your registration by mail, email or phone.
3. Electricity:
- A single 120-volt electrical receptacle will be available for each booth. Vendors will be permitted a maximum electrical usage of 10 amperes. You are required to bring a three-prong extension cord that is at least 30 feet long, and CSA rated for outdoor use. This service will be free of charge this year, although there will be a charge in future years.
4. Liability insurance:
- Vendors who do henna, massage or similar "body contact" work are required to submit a copy of their liability insurance policy along with their application.
5. Booth locations:
- When your application is accepted, you are assigned a booth location number that will show you where to set up your booth (see map above). Craft booth locations are assigned when applications are accepted, and start from the City Hall side (the east side) of the vendors area.
6. Restrictions:
- Tents, tables and chairs are not provided.
- You will be erecting your tent on a hard surface. Therefore, you must secure your tent with weights, such as concrete blocks. During one recent Millrace festival, two tents blew over because they were not sufficiently tied down. Please create a secure structure.
- The booth size is limited to 10 feet by 10 feet
7. Setting up your booth:
- Please set up your booth on Friday afternoon or evening, July 30. Millrace staff will be available between 5 and 7 p.m at the nearby the Cambridge Centre for the Arts to answer any questions you may have. (The Centre for the Arts is just east of City Hall at 60 Dickson St - see map above.)
- There will be security personnel on duty through Friday and Saturday nights in order to provide surveillance for the vendors booths.
- Overnight and daytime parking will not be available in the City Hall Parking Lot, located just north of the vendors area. It will also not be available in the Farmer's Market Parking Lot, located just west of the vendors area. Parking will be available at the Wellington Street Parking Lot, about a block east of the vendors area.
- Vendors will be able to drive their vehicles up close to their booths on Friday night, but not on Saturday nor Sunday, because performers' tents will be erected Saturday morning on Market Plaza and Market Square.
- The Cambridge Farmer's Market is in operation adjacent to your location, from 6 a.m to 1 p.m Saturday. You may find it helpful for your business to be open for this event.
- Exhibitors may dismantle their displays any time after Sunday (August 1), 5 p.m. and no later than 11 p.m.
