Cambridge, Ontario

Please note that there is plenty of parking behind City Hall, by Mill Race Park, and throughout downtown Galt. Check the parking map for locations. Please do not park in the Food Basics parking lot (across from the Mill Race Park) or at any establishments that are doing business during the festival!

Directions to the Festival Site

From 401 East:

Take the Highway 24 cut-off. Go South on Highway 24 past all the plazas on “hamburger alley”. This takes approximately fifteen minutes, depending on traffic. Veer left at Shoppers Drug Mart and turn left at Parkhill Road.

From 401 West:

Take the Highway 97 (Cedar Creek Road) cut-off. Follow this through pastoral countryside until you enter Cambridge itself. Cross over the Grand River and turn left IMMEDIATELY upon crossing the bridge on to Water Street. Continue on Water Street until you reach Thorne Street. See “From 401 East” for details from there.

From Hamilton

Take Highway 8 to Cambridge. Turn left at the first McDonald’s Restaurant you see. This is Highway 97 (Main Street East)—follow this for two sets of lights. Veer right past the island at the second set of lights and continue on Main Street East. Proceed down a steep hill with a school on the left and continue on until you come to the second set of lights (Ainslie St.). Turn right here and continue down until you reach Thorne St. Turn right into Thorne and continue on into the parking lot for City Hall. See Parking Option One (below) for further details.

Parking Option One:

Turn left on Parkhill Road and go two blocks east until reaching Cambridge Street. Turn right on Cambridge Street and proceed for two blocks. Immediately before you will be the imposing stone edifice of the Old Town Hall. On your left you will see the new Cambridge City Administration Building. Immediately before it (also on your left) is a city parking lot for public use.

Parking Option Two:

From Parkhill Road, go past Cambridge Street, continuing to the top of a hill. Turn right on Wellington Street, turn left immediately onto Kerr Street and down the hill to Beverly Street. Turn right on Beverely and follow that down to a City parking lot which is located on your left. From there you must walk up to the traffic lights and cross Wellington Street. Walk down Dickson Street past the David Durward Seniors Centre (on the corner) to the Civic Square stage.

If the Option One lot is full, then you could try Parking Option Two (above)

To get to this parking lot, leave the City Hall lot, turn right onto Cambridge St., right on Parkhill, up a steep hill, a quick right onto Wellington St., a quick left onto Kerr St., right again onto Beverley St. Entrance to another free city parking lot is halfway down on your left.

If you should decide to try this option first, then you can get there from Main St. as you come down the hill (not bothering with Ainslie, etc.) and turn right on Wellington St. The entrance to the parking lot is just past the first set of lights across from Dickson St.
